After last week's horrific events in Florida, our nation's youth has risen in order to hold adults in power accountable. Adults who are making the decisions about legislation that has put them and other people in danger. The survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have been speaking out and inspiring people across the nation. It's inspiring to see these young people take their pain and turn it into motivation to mobilize. They are the future and they are a force to be reckoned with as they are soon going to be able to vote. As adults and as service providers, we need to support them in any way that we can!
It's important to nurture these activists and to provide them with the resources for the long fight that awaits them. But we must also remember to not overshadow their voices because there are many who are attempting to silence them by discrediting their experiences. There are adults who are trying to silence them because they refuse to see their message without focusing on their age. We must stand with our youth and follow their lead so that we can create change. It's not just gun legislation that needs to be changed, there are other issues going on that affect them and the rest of the nation. So, let us celebrate our young activists and support their vision for the future! #neveragain
