<![CDATA[Happy New Year! ]]>Mon, 04 Jan 2016 18:47:16 GMThttp://www.c2p.la/home/happy-new-year

We hope your 2016 is off to a great start! Because of your support last year our coalition was able to make real structural change in Los Angeles for countless youth and young adults in our county. In addition to the structural change objectives accomplished we helped to advocate and support legislative change (AB329 California Healthy Youth Act), provided capacity building assistance to providers looking to increase their youth adult partnership skills, as well as connected with local and national stakeholders interested in reducing HIV in youth and young adults. It truly was a great year.
At our December retreat we got a chance to celebrate 10 amazing individuals who make up our C2PLA 2015 Key Actors and we practiced shared leadership and elected two amazing new co-chairs (Joaquin Gutierrez and Thomas Davis) who are set to lead us during this transition year.
Lastly we worked together to revise our vision and mission statements to better reflect the changing dynamic of our coalition.
Please take a moment to view our new vision and mission statements on our About Us page. . This new vision and mission was developed to act as a working tool to guide us as we seek alternative funding for the work of the coalition. As is standard practice we will revisit it annually to ensure it still aligns with our current work and values. Additionally it’s important to mention it was created with folks present during the retreat and a small subset of individuals including our new co-chairs who were tasked with incorporating several different viewpoints. We will discuss this briefly at our first working group meeting of the year
Friday, February 26th.

<![CDATA[SAVE The Date C2PLA Holiday Retreat December 4th ]]>Tue, 03 Nov 2015 20:46:59 GMThttp://www.c2p.la/home/save-the-date-c2pla-holiday-retreat-december-4thGreetings C2PLA Members and Supporters,

Please join us Friday, December 4, 2015 from 9am to 4pm for our 8th annual C2PLA Holiday Retreat. This year’s theme is “Sustaining Our Efforts and Ourselves.”

Your C2PLA Co-chairs and members of the Sustainability Subcommittee are planning an exciting day of fun, laughter, and team building as we work to develop our strategic plan for 2016.

We will also use this day to celebrate the successes of both the coalition and the individuals who contribute much of their time and effort to keep our work sustainable. A big highlight of the retreat is the presentation of our Key Actor Awards. These winners are chosen by YOU. Please don’t forget to vote. It takes less than two minutes of your time. You can vote by visiting www.tinyurl.com/keyactornominees as often as you like between now and November 27th. Please note, all votes are completely anonymous.

Additionally, if you are a newer member of the coalition, or are interested in inviting a potential new member, this would be a great opportunity for people to gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the coalition. It’s also a great place to network and share what your agency is doing as there are over 40 agencies represented within the coalition.
This also will be the last large gathering of coalition members until February 26, 2016.

Immediately following the retreat your co-chairs are hosting an optional post retreat “happy hour” at a location tbd.

You can RSVP for the retreat by visiting www.tinyurl.com/c2plaholidayretreat no later than Tuesday December 1st.

We look forward to seeing you all there!]]>

<![CDATA[Marriage Equality For All]]>Mon, 29 Jun 2015 17:07:01 GMThttp://www.c2p.la/home/marriage-equality-for-all
Today the US Supreme Court ruled that gay and lesbian couples in all 50 states have a constitutional right to marry, striking down laws banning gay marriage in over a dozen states. As President Obama tweeted, “Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins”
